Apart from experiencing the big 5 in the world renowned Addo Elephant National Park, there are a host of attractions and activities available in the surrounding area. Visit one of the other nearby Game Parks such as Shamwari Game Reserve, Schotia Safaris or Amakhala. Enjoy a day on the beach at the nearby Sundays River Mouth or visit Port Elizabeth, the closest city to Addo, approximately 65km, offering some of the finest beaches in South Africa, a Casino and many places of interest worth exploring.

Alternatively linger in the area and visit the Addo Raptor and Reptile Centre, various Pubs and Restaurants, Spa’s, the Sir Percy Fitzpatrick Library and during winter weekends watch polo and enjoy a cup of tea at the Addo Polo Club. Go on an Elephant Back Safari in the Zuurberg Mountains. Visit the Daniell Cheetah Breeding Farm in Kirkwood and learn more about their Cheetah Breeding programme. Tour the Sundays River Citrus company’s packhouse during the picking season and see how the fruit is washed, waxed, sorted and packed for export.

Annual festivals include the Kirkwood Wildlife Festival in June and the stunning display of thousands of rose blooms at the Addo Rose & Garden Show in October.
